Some additional tips to keep your little ones safe and allow for an enjoyable adventure include:
-Teach young children to stay within eyesight, and older children to stay within earshot.
-Instruct your child to stay where they are if they get lost. Give them a whistle to carry around their necks to blow if they are lost. Three blows is the standard distress signal.
-Pack a full day's clothing for each child in a plastic bag. That way your child can pull out a bag of clean clothes in the morning and pack the dirty clothes back in the bag at the end of the day. This will help keep things simple and organized.
-Plan to dress in layers. Add if you are cold, take off if you are hot.
-Make sure each child has his own flashlight. Children love to play with flashlights.
-Bring a game that you love to play at home. It will be even more fun to play it by the light of the campfire, flashlight or lantern.
-It is more fun for a child to camp with other children. Ask along a friend.

This article was written by Sandy. I am a parent who is concerned with giving my children the best start in life. Since my first child didn't come with a manual, I have found other parents' advice invaluable. I would like to pass on what I have learned and hope that other parents would like to do the same. I have recently been reminded of how important my family is and that my family should always come first. Please visit my blog at http://www.TheFamilyComesFirst.com/. Hope to see you there.
